Network Engineer L2

Key Accountability Area

• Plan, schedule, and implement network upgrades, assist in implementations and migrations.
• Provide change/problem management support.
• Create and maintain documentation for monitoring systems, processes, and the creation of hardware devices.
• Diagnose and resolve every connectivity issue, perform updates, configuration changes, and back-ups.
• Be available, and willing to cover shifts as required, to rapidly troubleshoot any problems resulting from the changes and or faults.
• Ensure global network support and maintain high system availability in collaboration with external suppliers.
• Perform relevant duties on a day-to-day basis.
• Create and maintain documentation for monitoring, processes, network diagrams, and existing device inventory.
• Monitor and maintain all the network devices (LAN devices, routers, switches, wifi controllers, etc) and any other related equipment and services.
• Identify mission-critical production network-related issues and troubleshoot end-user issues.

Experience

• This highly technical role requires exceptional technical ability and vision together with outstanding leadership and technical people skills. It requires the ability to provide exceptional levels of service in a fast-moving, constantly changing, and flexible environment.
• Extensive experience implementing and supporting IP protocols. Detailed understanding of the ISO communications stack.
• Significant experience in problem & performance diagnosis and resolution related to LAN infrastructure.
• Ability to manage stress well under difficult situations and when dealing with production issues and project deadlines.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with a focus on delivery, responsiveness, ownership, and accountability are also critical.
• Experience in the areas of vendor management, resource management, project management, and service level agreements.
• Specific expertise in the design and build-out of large data networks in ongoing, critical delivery businesses.
• Understanding of design considerations for high-volume transaction systems.
• Experienced in performance tuning, capacity management, consolidation, COS, load balancing technology, and monitoring.
• Strong project management skills and experience.

Education & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/engineering or related field preferred or a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience is required.
• Good understanding and relevant experience with LAN technologies.
• Cisco/HP certification is required (CCNA)
• Understanding of WIFI technologies.
• Understanding of DC technologies
• CCNP preferred

• Manage network operations for data communications, including scheduled maintenance, upgrades, obsolescence, and capacity requirements. Ensure that network infrastructure is properly documented and meets architecture designs and standards.
